Since I’ve never had an audience this large before, I might as well try to reach out to some of you. Following my now-famous post, I’ve been surprised how few people have engaged with what I said, at least to me. With literally thousands of people reading it, I was expecting to get a mountain of hate comments, and maybe some constructive engagement of some kind. If I’m wrong, maybe you could explain to me how instead of just pointing and shrieking? It’s even possible you could change my mind, you never know.
But no, it’s mostly been crickets. Despite the fact that there’s people calling for my head all over the Internets, almost none of that invective has been directed toward me directly, and supportive comments and emails have actually substantially outnumbered the opposite. Not sure what that means.
So consider this an invitation to talk. If you would like to know more about what I actually think, or would just like to see whether or not I’m actually a misshapen troll, reach out to me, either publicly through the comments or privately via email. If you’re on the UAB campus, come talk to me in person. I’m easy enough to find and my door is usually open.

you care more about being famous than what you’re doing in favor of white supremacists and eugenicists.
Well, friendly anon, since I haven’t done anything in favor of either white supremacy or eugenics and revile them both, yeah, I guess you’re right.
you have had comments that are devoid of “shrieking.” you just ignore them
I’ve approved and/or replied to 95% of the comments I’ve gotten. Were you referring to an email that you sent me? Post it as a comment and I will give it the attention it deserves.
Nobody is reaching out to talk to you about this because they’re freaked out at what you said. There’s nothing to talk about. You’ve shown yourself for who you are, and that’s something to tiptoe around to protect oneself. Nobody wants a white nationalist, or a civic nationalist I should say, in their academic community, so why make polite conversation with one?
LOL mostly I was commenting on the lack of “fuck you nazi” comments
But would love to see a show of hands of scientists who think “civic nationalists” should be banned from academia. You can only have an opinion on thermodynamics if you believe in open borders and would rather drink bleach than have someone accuse you of being a patriot!
Or for that matter, maybe I should ask for a show of hands of scientists who think “democratic socialists” (i.e. communists) should be banned from academia

This was a paper you might find interesting
While I really hate Trump, I didn’t find anything immoral in your blog post and the banner spectacle in the middle of Campbell Hall was pretty insane.
I find it disturbing that the antifa crowd will hunt people down so aggressively for having different opinions. Last time I checked, that’s what nazis do.
As someone who’s known a lot of artists and antifas around Birmingham, some have told me things like:
-they truly don’t believe in free speech
-they truly hate white males
I really can’t support those people, or the Trump/alt-right extremists. By any objective measure it seems like civility has gone down the toilet.
“…civility has gone down the toilet” — I couldn’t agree more. That was what I was TRYING to get at with my blog post — if “hate” is what we worry about (and it should be), we need to take a hard, honest look at where most of it is coming from, and who it’s directed toward. It’s amazing to me, and discouraging, that people so completely misconstrued my intention.
